About
Urbanism, the arts, media and la cultura.
The good stuff!
With a background in urban planning, film photography, and contemporary art, I love finding unique connections between seemingly disparate topics across mediums. As a bicultural Latina, my work in cultural production prioritizes artists of color and marginalized voices in museums and media. I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing curators, artists, and cultural workers, like Tiona Nekkia McClodden (Bucksbaum Award, Whitney Biennial 2019), Mel Chin (MacArthur fellow), Carmen Hermo (Curator, Brooklyn Museum).
In recent years, I’ve produced podcasts on Formula 1, family dynamics amongst surf dynasties, and hyphy music. I’ve profiled skateboarders and graffiti artists, musicians and photographers, and produced mini-documentaries on recording artists and athletes. I love chatting and working with people.
In May 2020, I cofounded Soft Power Vote, a New York City civic engagement initiative that produces voter guides and objective informational content that illuminates the connectivity between pop culture and the New York voting process. Our Level Up interview series and podcast has featured elected officials, organizers, and creatives, like, State Senators Jabari Brisport and Phara Souffrant Forrest, Zenat Begum of Playground Coffee and City Councilperson Chi Ossé. (Find the podcast on all streaming platforms by searching: Level Up by Soft Power Vote). Soft Power Vote is currently a Year 11 cohort member of NEW INC, a cultural incubator within the NEW MUSEUM.
In 2020, I received a full scholarship to Transom Traveling Audio Workshop which took place at WPLN in Nashville, TN. The same year, I received a grant from the San Francisco Art Book Fair, awarded to fifteen BIPOC artists and publishers across the nation.
