About

Urbanism, the arts, comida, media, and always, la cultura.

Essentially, the good stuff!

With a background in urban planning, film photography, and contemporary art, I love finding unique connections between seemingly disparate topics across mediums. As a bicultural Latina, my work in cultural production prioritizes artists of color and marginalized voices in museums and media. I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing curators, artists, and cultural workers, like Tiona Nekkia McClodden (Bucksbaum Award, Whitney Biennial 2019), Mel Chin (MacArthur fellow), Carmen Hermo (Curator, Brooklyn Museum), and more.

In recent years, I’ve produced podcasts on Formula 1, family dynamics amongst surf dynasties, and hyphy music. I’ve profiled skateboarders and graffiti artists, musicians and photographers, and produced mini-documentaries on recording artists and athletes. I love chatting and working with people.

In May 2020, I cofounded Soft Power Vote, a New York City voting initiative that produces voter guides and content that illuminates the connectivity between art, pop culture, and local politics. Our Level Up interview series celebrates elected officials, organizers, and creatives, including State Senators Jabari Brisport and Phara Souffrant Forrest, and Zenat Begum of Playground Coffee. The series was also expanded into a podcast program, featuring conversations on Ranked Choice Voting and an interview with New York City Council member Chi Osse (find it where you get your podcasts by searching: Level Up by Soft Power Vote).

In 2020, I received a full scholarship to Transom Traveling Audio Workshop which took place at WPLN in Nashville, TN. The same year, I received a grant from the San Francisco Art Book Fair, awarded to fifteen BIPOC artists and publishers across the nation. My work has been featured in Hyperallergic, NYU’s Latinx Project, Remezcla, SFMoMA’s Open Space, Art21, Whetstone, New Latin Wave, and in the San Francisco newspaper, El Tecolote.
